Solution
We crafted a comprehensive strategy that aligned with the customers objectives. This included communicating sustainable goals to attendees, selecting specific suppliers and tracking event emissions. With Verona selected as the location, the environmental impact was considered for every aspect of the event, including:
- Accommodation and activities: Two hotels were selected, both within walking distance from Verona train station and nearby leisure activities.
- Transportation: Only suppliers with certifications in quality and sustainability were selected and 50% of vehicles used for transfers were electric.
- Catering: Venues selected were committed to zero-kilometer menus, referring to food that is produced, sold, and eaten locally. Excess food was donated through a partnership with Veneto Food Bank and meeting spaces included recycling containers. Bottled water was also limited with any provided being in biodegradable and compostable glass.
- Off-site activity: A presentation in Valpolicella featured locally produced wines, drawing a parallel between the durability of Corcym’s heart valves and wine aging. Committed to environmental stewardship, the winery exemplified this through their innovative packaging using lighter glass bottles and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified labels and corks.
